The opportunity
In Sabarkantha district, healthcare systems face challenges of limited infrastructure, delayed diagnosis, and high patient loads of chronic conditions such as hypertension (25%), diabetes(10%), and anemia (30%) in OPD attendees. Routine manual screenings are time-consuming and often inaccessible, leaving large rural and tribal populations underserved. With NCDs becoming a growing public health crisis, there was a clear need for a faster, scalable, and non-invasive solution to bring preventive care closer to communities.
What we did
Safecure Healthcare Foundation, in collaboration with PranaAI and the district health department, introduced an AI-based facial scan wellness tool across three health facilities. Using smartphone and tablet cameras, the tool generates real-time readings of blood pressure, HbA1c, haemoglobin, heart rate, SPO₂, and stress levels through a 35–60 second scan. The pilot was designed to integrate smoothly into OPD workflows, with validation against manual tests and continuous feedback loops from healthcare workers and patients to refine both the technology and its deployment model.
The Outcome
The pilot created a new pathway for preventive health by demonstrating the feasibility of AI-assisted wellness screening in a resource-limited setting. Outcomes are being continuously monitored, with early evidence showing improvements in screening efficiency, patient satisfaction, and system readiness for digital innovation. The project has laid the foundation for scaling into community-level screening and informing future public health programs that seek cost-effective, technology-driven solutions.
